The Youth Programme

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is part of the YOUTH programme, a European Union programme that promotes the mobility of young people through international activities with a non-formal education dimension such as youth exchanges, voluntary services, youth initiatives and training of youth workers. (youth.org.pl)

EVS is one of the opportunities for young people to get actively involved in European project work. An EVS project gains from intercultural experience, it builds on a trans-national partnership between youth organisations and the volunteer. It promotes local project that is based on everybody’s commitment.

If you are between 18 and 25 years old, willing to dedicate 6 to 12 months of your time contributing to a local a project and gaining personal development, and if you are enthusiastic and full of dynamism, you are the right candidate.

Volunteer, sending organisation and host organisation are the key partners of an EVS project. The willingness of close co-operation between these three is crucial for a successful experience.

The FERSO Foundation would like to invite all the institutions working with children and youth to participate in the Youth Programme. If you are willing to host a Euro-volunteer who will implement a project in your institution, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will assist you with the organizational and administrative matters.

On 11 of August 2005 a Polish-Dutch exchange in the town of Sumow ended. The exchange called Our little homelands was implemented thank to the EU funds and the Youth Programme.

Eleven volunteers from the FERSO foundation took part in the exchange as well as nine volunteers from the Groen Oog Foundation in Holland. Our principal aim was to gain skills useful in a youth leaders and culture instructors work. We also strove to learn how important our nature and culture are and how significant it is to discover and protect their beauty. During our two week camp we managed to make a film Pszczelarka i Holendrzy (The beekeeper woman and the Dutch), to publish a booklet Culture Shock between Poland and Holland, to organise an exhibition Our little homelands – culture and nature, prepare a performance and a multimedial presentation regarding the exchange.
